Making Åsdalsmål accessible to teachers, students, and the rest of Norway by simplifying and modernizing the online glossary with Sanity.

About the project
The solution was an interactive online glossary, a digital resource that contains a wide range of words and expressions from the dialect, accompanied by explanations, examples of usage in sentences, and audio recordings demonstrating correct pronunciation. Users can easily search for words in the glossary and access detailed explanations and examples. Additionally, several filtering options are offered, allowing users to filter by word class (e.g., noun, verb) or letter, making it easier to navigate the linguistic material. These features make the glossary a flexible tool for both language teachers, students, and anyone interested in the dialect. The online glossary is built with Astro, a modern framework optimized for fast load times and easy development. For content management and editing, the headless CMS: Sanity is used, making it easy to update and maintain the glossary.
The glossary is developed with a strong focus on performance, scalability, and user-friendliness, with an emphasis on universal design. The site follows WCAG guidelines to ensure that the website is accessible to all users, focusing on proper color contrast, semantic HTML, and keyboard navigation.
