About the project

Too Good To Go is a huge international brand, tackling a huge - and vital - challenge: food waste.

Their previous website wasn’t showcasing the incredible work their team was achieving, and their legacy custom CMS was starting to crack under the pressure.

Too Good To Go came to Hex with the problem, and some exceptionally challenging parameters: we need a stunning, high-performing website that the whole company can be proud of and we need it on a very tight timeline.

After a rapid but rigorous discovery phase, we concluded Sanity would allow us to deliver on those requirements. We knew it would be able to handle anything the team threw at it, and with the added time pressure, we didn’t have room for surprises or rework.

Given the time constraints, Hex worked on design and development in parallel, building out a design system and component library that stayed one step ahead of development. Exceptional integration with the talented Too Good To Go team - and direct, honest communication delivered quickly - made this possible.

The Too Good To Go team required the ability to export content to xlsx for global review across 22 languages, and then re-import the translated versions. Hex created tooling to manage this process, and a tool to view all translation jobs and import history.

They also needed solid control of their content, requiring a high degree of flexibility so they weren’t blocked by development. We revolutionised the modular section approach by creating Outer and Inner blocks: content blocks that can be added inside other blocks, removed and deleted, and could be made Reusable or Syncable for super-fast creation of new pages. We’re extremely proud of what we’ve built. With strict KPIs, we were targeting a substantial 7% increase in conversions. This was blown out of the water, achieving over a 30% increase in conversions during the incremental migration testing period.
